FIRST EVER BLOG POST!!

Hi there,

i'm exploring different ways of formatting my website and finding the best way to tell you about the art avilible on here.

I want to tell you more about why I am doing this in the first place. Starting a fine art business centered on ceramics is no small feat. What has kept me going so far is my love for the medium. I first gained an interest in pottery during my archaeology minor which I completed in my undergrad. Our teacher would show us so many different pots and analyse their different aesthetic features - shape, colour, motifs, inclusions, handles etc. And from all those features you could see ideals regarding what things should be, what they should be used for. Does a bowl need to be decorated? Does a jug with three handles require more than one person to use it? Should things be done individually? 

And the pots changed in front of my eyes - they were respresentations of whole belief systems and their visual manifestations.

I got to know different cultures through the ceramic pieces they left behind. In the Earth.

The Earth holds us and the traces of our ancestors. Clay is a part of it. The clay we use now was created during their existence, and the clay they used and which, once fired, outlived them, is held in the ground that we walk on. I find ceramic enables human connection through space and time.

You hold a piece of burnt earth in your hands, the same way the person who made it holds it, and it speaks to you.

And I want to speak to you, I have a lot to say.
